Junction Point of The Three Mightiest Mountain Ranges Karakoram, Hindukush, Himalayas

Have You Ever Heard of Jaglot?

A town with a stunning dramatic view with towering mountains and soggy water flowing in between them in the Gilgit region of Pakistan and is base 45km southeast of Gilgit on the Karakoram freeway is Jaglot town. It is located at the confluence of three steep mountain ranges Karakorum, Hindu Kush, and the Himalayas. It is also the intersections where the ways to Gilgit and Skardu split from different directions. The highway to the Skardu branches is six kilometers to Gilgit.

Jaglot is located in a fertile valley rich in natural resources. It is one of the business centers of the Gilgit Blatistan as all the six districts are accessible through Jaglot. It is the niche where three commanding cliff ranges Karakorum, Hindu Kush, and the Himalayas greet.

The Karakorum And Hindu Kush A Brief Comparison

The Karakorum is nature’s greatest creation, the world’s tallest and most hazardous cliff range. A lot of people believe that the Karakorum is a part of the Himalayas. The mountain range is not a part of the Himalayas. This is a so-called ‘daddy’ of the Himalayas. The ordinary altitude of the Himalayas cliff is nearly 18000 feet but the regular size of tremendous Karakorum is about 23000 feet. This is the highest average compared to any other mountain range in the world.

The Himalayas are also incredible they comprise Mt.everest and Nanga Parbat. Himalayas span across Pakistan, India, Nepal and Bhutan. But the Himalayas are not the Karakorum! You know how? Let’s compare the two gigantic cliff ranges with their tallest peaks, K2 Karakorum’s tallest mount with mount Everest which is the Himalayas tallest peak and is 200m taller than K2, and is famous for being worlds tallest peak. K2 comes in second place. But let’s estimate these two.

13 people above the age of 60 have climbed Everest. 73-year young women have also conquered Everest. A 13-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl have also reached the summit. Blind, amputees, and cancer survivors, all have climbed Everest and  3 Nepalese have made Everest their playground. Every one of them has soared Everest 21 times! Around 7000 people have conquered Everest so far.

Now let’s have a look at K2. Merely about 300 people have been able to reach K2. but K2 has claimed more lives than any other in the world, Perhaps known as a savage mountain.

Most of the Karakorum mountains are extremely tall and dangerous, that’s the reason the Karakorum holds so many records. Baltoro’s frozen in the Karakorum can be seen from the space. On the terminal of the Karakorum present Siachen glacier. This is a high sweet water stock. But it is also the world’s elevated theatre of combat. Pakistan and Indian troops are contaminating this sweet water resource with their artillery.

But there arises a question. If the three strongest ranges meet at the same point then what

separates the ranges from each other?

Indus River

The Indus river in Jammu and Kashmir, India, and the Gilgit, administered by Pakistan, is generally regarded as the dividing line between the Himalayas and the Karakoram. The Gilgit River is a tributary of the Indus river streaming from the northwest. The river flows from here. The confluence of these rivers is called the ‘Tri junction point’ or ‘junction point of the three mountains’. It is located at the confluence of 3 high mountain ranges, Karakorum, the Himalayas, and the Hindu Kush.

To the north of this confluence or the north of both the Indus and Gilgit is the Karakoram.

The Himalayan area in the south of Sindh before the integration and in the east after the integration.

The Hindu Kush is south of the Gilgit River and west of the Indus.

In the Ladakh region of India, there is an east-west border called Ladakh range in the north of Sindh and is periodically taken as an expansion of the Karakorum. Over the Ladakh border or to the north, the shock river is a tributary of the Indus River that flows westwards and meets the Indus near Skardu, and the mountains most generally north of the shyok are called the Karakoram range.

Hindukush And The Western Mountains

If we talk about Hindukush and its western mountains, in the very north of Pakistan, the branches of the Hindu Kush are located to the northwest, southwest of the nodal and orogenic growth known as the Palmer knot. The shores of the Hindu Kush generally trend to the northeast of the southeast, while the Karakorum bund runs southeast-northeast.

The Hindu Kush is made up of two separate streams, a major crust line intersected by transverse streams, and a watershed chain west of the central border in Afghanistan that divides the Indus river system from the Amu Darya drainage basin. From Hindu kush to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, several branches run south in the area of Chitral, Dir and swat. These limbs have deep narrow canyons along the Kunar, panjkora and swat rivers. In the far north, the range is covered with permanent snow and ice. The highest peaks include Terich Mir, which rises to 25,230 feet.

The Hindu Kush, on the other hand, is separated from the Karakoram by the Gilgit river. Gilgit grows somewhere between the Hindu kush and Karakoram mountain range. And it comes from Gilgit town and eventually joins Indus in jaglot. This is where the three great series meet.

Conclusion

Indeed, the area has such a dramatic view with the three commanding cliff ranges meet along with the river Indus flowing in between them. It not only enhances the beauty of Pakistan but also contributes to the economy of the country as being the tourist’s most visiting point from all over the world and trekking site for the adventure-loving climbers globally. If the ancients had understood the significance of this place, which we now do with years of research using modern scientific instruments, they would have built some excellent structures here I would imagine and I go one day out of all the places that are upstairs.
